Carbon steel for mechanical metal materials

Share :

Carbon steel for mechanical structures is manufactured by hot rolling and hot extrusion. SC materials are marked with the symbol "SC" followed by two digits to indicate the type.

1. Cold-rolled steel SPCC and hot-rolled steel SPHC.

Rolling, which is a process of metal plastic processing, involves the use of at least two rotating rolls to squeeze the material while stretching it. The process can be likened to when we use a rolling pin to roll udon or buckwheat dough flat. By changing the distance between the rolls, we can adjust the plate thickness. In addition, we can also make products with special profile shapes, such as rails, by arranging multiple rolls in three dimensions. Because rolling is the continuous processing of steel plates using bars called flat steel billets, it is characterized by the ability to process continuous parts with the same profile shape at high speed. In the rolling process, in addition to plate, bar steel and steel pipe, can also make H-shaped, L-shaped section of the section steel.

According to the processing temperature, rolling can be roughly divided into two types: hot rolling and cold rolling.

1. cold rolled steel SPCC.

Cold rolling is a method of rolling metal at room temperature or ambient temperature. Although this is processed at room temperature, the metal being processed is not at room temperature because the heat generated during the processing will cause the temperature to rise. Our goal is to keep the temperature below 600 ° C.

2. hot rolled steel SPHC.

Hot rolling is a process method that is carried out at temperatures higher than the recrystallization temperature. When dealing with the iron series material of rolled steel, it is usually processed at a temperature of 900 ° C ~ 1200 ° C.

Rolled steel for general structure

The material of the general structure is steel made by rolling, which is represented by the symbol "SS" followed by three digits. These three digits indicate the tensile strength of the material, for example, if it is SS400, then it means that the tensile strength of the steel of this structure is more than 400N/mm2. SS materials mainly have the following types:

SS330: including steel plate, steel strip, flat steel and bar steel;

SS400: including steel plate, steel strip, section steel, flat steel and bar steel;

SS490: including steel plate, steel strip, section steel, flat steel and bar steel;

SS540: including steel plate, steel strip, section steel, flat steel and bar steel;

Among them, the SS400 is the most widely used.

3. mechanical structure with carbon steel

Carbon steel for mechanical structures is manufactured by hot rolling and hot extrusion. SC materials are marked with the symbol "SC" followed by two digits to indicate the type. This number partially indicates the carbon content of the material, for example, if it is S45C, then it means that the material has a carbon content of 0.45%. There are the following SC materials: S25C, S35C, S45C, S50C and so on.

S45C is one of the most popular SC materials currently known.

4. Carbon tool steel (SK material)

Carbon tool steel is a kind of high carbon steel with essentially no alloying elements, and its carbon content is in the range of 0.65% to 1.35%. Due to its low production cost and easy access to raw materials, while having good machinability, high hardness and high wear resistance can be obtained after heat treatment, so it is widely used in the manufacture of various cutting tools, molds and measuring tools.

Carbon tool steel can be divided into carbon cutting tool steel, carbon die steel and carbon measuring tool steel according to its different uses.

Carbon tool steel refers to the carbon tool steel used to make cutting tools. This steel has a high hardness and wear resistance, suitable for cutting metal materials.

Carbon tool steel refers to the carbon tool steel used to make cold and hot working molds. This kind of steel has good toughness and wear resistance, and is suitable for withstand large pressure and impact loads.

Carbon measuring tool steel refers to the carbon tool steel used to make measuring tools. This steel has high accuracy and stability, suitable for measurement and inspection work.

SK steel is a special carbon tool steel with a carbon content ranging from 0.6% to 1.5%. There are 1 to 7 different types of SK materials.

SK1 steel has a carbon content of 1.3 to 1.5 percent, while SK7 steel has a carbon content of 0.6 to 0.7 percent. From SK1 to SK7, the carbon content of steel decreases successively.

SK7 steel has good toughness, but low wear resistance, suitable for making cutting tools for cutting soft materials and bearing impact load tools, such as woodworking tools, sickles, chisels, hammers and so on.

SK6 steel has good toughness and high hardness, suitable for making punches, scissors, and can also be used to make woodworking tools. T8Mn type steel with higher manganese content has better hardenability, which is suitable for making woodworking tools with larger fractures, coal mining chisels, stone chisels, and hand saw blades and horizontal files requiring small deformation.

SK4 steel has good wear resistance and a wide range of applications, suitable for making metal cutting tools with poor cutting conditions and high wear resistance requirements, as well as cold stamping dies and measuring tools, such as turning tools, planing knives, milling cutters, wire rolling plates, wire drawing dies, engraving chisels, calipers and plug gauges.

SK2 steel has high hardness, good wear resistance, but low toughness, and is suitable for making impact-free cutting tools and measuring tools, such as scrapers, drills, reamers, reaming drills, taps, dies and micrometers.

Sk1 steel is the highest carbon content of carbon tool steel steel, its hardness is very high, but the toughness is low, can not withstand the impact load, only suitable for the production of cutting tools of high hardness materials and processing of hard rock tools, such as files, knives, wire drawing die and engraving tools.
